JMT 2011...the real post.

Tim and I did the John Muir Trail in the Sierras again this year. We took 6 days and did 131 miles. Respectively, we did 16, 24, 27, 26, 24, and 14 miles by day. Both Tim and I went ultralight. My baseline pack weight was 11.5 lbs. with a camera. With 6 days of food (which ended up being too much) and Tim's tent (which I carried because he carried a BearVault), I weighed 24.7 or so pounds. Tim weighed in around 31 lbs. We finished both of us with blown up knees. We didn't train properly (or at all in my case) and as a result, the walking hurt a little bit more than we would have liked, but we still cranked miles and had a total blast. Unreal.

(Backpacks: Tim.... ~32lbs, Scott.... ~25lbs.)

(At the start. Devil's Postpile. I am multicolored and overly flambuoyant, but we decided on a little role reversal. Tim looked like a walking rock with all the colors that he wore.)

(Trees all ruined by large quantities of CO2 released from the earth.)

(Upturned roots and gorgeous light.)

(Campsite. Day 1.)

(Lake Virginia. Early morning walk.)

(One of my favorite tree on the trail. The coloration in the bark is amazing.)

(Yep.)

(Trailside yellows. For Megan.)

(Still from video of me walking. Cinelli cap........ROG.)

(Spaceship clouds.)

(Evolution Valley floor.)

(Dinner. In my face!)

(Sunset across the Valley.)

(Flowers below Muir Pass.)

(These frogs were EVERYWHERE below Muir Pass in the descending lakes.)

(Going into LeConte Canyon. Raaaaaaaargh!!)

(Up towards Mather Pass.)

(By Bench Lake. Mid-day lay and foot soak. Unreal.)

(Overlook on Day 1.)

(Evolution Valley sunset.)

(Glen Pass on our last day. About 7:30 a.m.)

(On the downside of Muir Pass.)

(Silver Lake, below Silver Pass.)

(Way down the backside of Muir Pass. Large granite valley.)
