One Too Many Hobbies...

So last night I was up until about 1:30a.m. because I ventured from one thing to the next with my jaw totally dropped. It all started with bikes, as usual. I was looking at a beast like this:

(Milwaukee Bruiser....a beater from hell.)

It is next on the list of bike purchases. It is everything I've always wanted in a commuter and fixed gear. It's like a "road version" of a mountain bike. You could just mow over pedestrians on this sucker...not that I would. Following this matte black adventure, I ended up on this:

(A true Randonneur bike, ready for an afternoon of wine, trail, and beach.)

True function and beauty combined into one classy package. Fenders, utility rack, straight-swept handlebar with cork grips, and topped with a Brooks Swift saddle. Choice. Totally choice. Totally expensive too. And then from classic to classic, here's this:

(A beauty and a beauty.)

Lowriders will never in this lifetime cease to stun me. The beauty mashed up into these weird packages of hydraulics, color changing paints, headers to straight pipes, and chop tops. Also, the scene surrounding them is too gnarly. Crazy scene. And then came this:

(I'm not even sure what it is, but it's classic lines mixed with modern technology. Gnarly.)

Motorcycles are something that's always interested me. The culture, the noise, the women, and the attitude. You ride almost fully unprotected on a totally modified project of your own. A bike with a motor! And a fast one at that. And after this I realized that this is my dream:

(Triumph T120 custom built by Wrenchmonkees.

or....

(1941 Harley Davidson Knucklehead.)

or.....

(Jason Lee's Bullet "Falcon".)

As you can see, they all have the same general look. Long stance, rigid tail, leather saddle, black wheels and tires, and a low profile. Aggressive, hardcore, classic, and fast as all hell.

At the end of it all, I got mega-distracted by this website: www.seriouswheels.com  This was mostly due to the fact that there were extremely gorgeous and rare cars. Some like the following:

(600HP Volve Amazon wagon)

(Kurtis 500KK)

(Aston Martin DB4 GT)

(BMW 3.0 CSI)

(Maserati A6GCS/53)

After all of this, I realized that I'm doomed because I am not joking when I say that I enjoy everything. Almost literally, I enjoy everything. And not only do I enjoy them, I have a strong passion for them all. I live for bikes and bodysurfing
mostly, but I also greatly enjoy tennis, surfing, golf, motorcycles, cars, photography, art, and architecture. And let me assure you, these hobbies aren't the cheapest on any level. But then again, I guess no hobby is really that cheap and that's why it's a hobby. I don't know whether to narrow down my view and focus on a couple of these things only, or piece by piece try and enjoy them all. There can be a problem in that though because rather than being really really good at only a couple of things, I could be pretty good at all of them and "pretty good" doesn't really fly in my book. And there you have it folks......The Wednesday Night Drama.

P.S. If you look closely, the things which I hold most dear all have wheels....maybe that's a start. Wheeled things.
