Boogie Woogie....

Just wanted to let everyone know that I now boogieboard. Hazards and Left Spot here I come....got new fins on the way since I recently lost one of my favorites. Here's what I have...

and the fins...Da Fin....Red/Yellow....

Look out. I'm officially a man of too many hobbies. Joined a climbing gym (Slo-Op) and climb now too.
Now, i do bikes, boards (of every variation), and climbing. Tennis, running, hiking. I love it. This world has way too much to offer. Even without working, I could never accomplish the full offerings of this world. I intend to chip away at as much of it as possible though.....gotta get going.

Bodysurfing...

Not necessarily new, but the singletrack thought of the last two weeks or so has been this:

(Brazil.)

(The Wedge.....Newport.)

(Sandy's Beach......Hawaii.)

(Australia?)

mutant waves that are so thick they're got nothing to do but kill, gems hidden, and nothing but a pair of swim fins. Ladies and gentleman, I'm talking about bodysurfing. That's it. It's quite a kick in the pants. If you can't smile while bodysurfing, then you have no pulse. Just give it a shot. Way too good. If you want to see a cool photojournal about bodysurfing, check out: http://bodysurf.com.au

Also, applying for a design job with Specialized bikes tomorrow and cannot wait. If that came through, it'd be way too cool. I will gladly sweep floors and toilets if it simply means a job in the bike industry. But seriously......

One Too Many Hobbies...

So last night I was up until about 1:30a.m. because I ventured from one thing to the next with my jaw totally dropped. It all started with bikes, as usual. I was looking at a beast like this:

(Milwaukee Bruiser....a beater from hell.)

It is next on the list of bike purchases. It is everything I've always wanted in a commuter and fixed gear. It's like a "road version" of a mountain bike. You could just mow over pedestrians on this sucker...not that I would. Following this matte black adventure, I ended up on this:

(A true Randonneur bike, ready for an afternoon of wine, trail, and beach.)

True function and beauty combined into one classy package. Fenders, utility rack, straight-swept handlebar with cork grips, and topped with a Brooks Swift saddle. Choice. Totally choice. Totally expensive too. And then from classic to classic, here's this:

(A beauty and a beauty.)

Lowriders will never in this lifetime cease to stun me. The beauty mashed up into these weird packages of hydraulics, color changing paints, headers to straight pipes, and chop tops. Also, the scene surrounding them is too gnarly. Crazy scene. And then came this:

(I'm not even sure what it is, but it's classic lines mixed with modern technology. Gnarly.)

Motorcycles are something that's always interested me. The culture, the noise, the women, and the attitude. You ride almost fully unprotected on a totally modified project of your own. A bike with a motor! And a fast one at that. And after this I realized that this is my dream:

(Triumph T120 custom built by Wrenchmonkees.

or....

(1941 Harley Davidson Knucklehead.)

or.....

(Jason Lee's Bullet "Falcon".)

As you can see, they all have the same general look. Long stance, rigid tail, leather saddle, black wheels and tires, and a low profile. Aggressive, hardcore, classic, and fast as all hell.

At the end of it all, I got mega-distracted by this website: www.seriouswheels.com  This was mostly due to the fact that there were extremely gorgeous and rare cars. Some like the following:

(600HP Volve Amazon wagon)

(Kurtis 500KK)

(Aston Martin DB4 GT)

(BMW 3.0 CSI)

(Maserati A6GCS/53)

After all of this, I realized that I'm doomed because I am not joking when I say that I enjoy everything. Almost literally, I enjoy everything. And not only do I enjoy them, I have a strong passion for them all. I live for bikes and bodysurfing
mostly, but I also greatly enjoy tennis, surfing, golf, motorcycles, cars, photography, art, and architecture. And let me assure you, these hobbies aren't the cheapest on any level. But then again, I guess no hobby is really that cheap and that's why it's a hobby. I don't know whether to narrow down my view and focus on a couple of these things only, or piece by piece try and enjoy them all. There can be a problem in that though because rather than being really really good at only a couple of things, I could be pretty good at all of them and "pretty good" doesn't really fly in my book. And there you have it folks......The Wednesday Night Drama.

P.S. If you look closely, the things which I hold most dear all have wheels....maybe that's a start. Wheeled things.

Back in "town"

I am currently up in San Luis Obispo again, but only for a week. I initially came up for a best friend's wedding and it was bar-none the best wedding I've ever been to. Amazing dancing, great food, great company and love. Here's a little bit of what went on at the wedding:

(Garrett and Tera Colburn)

(The Kiss.)

(Shea and Stephanie...to be married October 9th.)

(Sarah and David.)

(Scott Ender, Kyle Wilhelm, John Lane, and Tyler Johnston.)

(Marisa....Tyler's lovely lady. Lovely.)

(Boo yah.)

Truth be told, my mind's been totally spun around bikes lately. Everything from super sexy $4600 Santa Cruz mountain bikes to old Italian and French race bikes to super crazy commuters/fixed gears. I love bikes so darn much. Check this beauty out (Pashley):

More to come....
